Common Mistakes Made When Creating Website Design Tucson AZ Graphic Artists Should Avoid

By William Johnson

It isn't realistic to think you can open a new business or promote your creative talent without having a great website people can check out. If you plan on creating the site yourself, you should consider purchasing some software. You may be disappointed by low foot traffic though, even after spending money, time, and plenty of effort. The talent or business most likely isn't the problem. You have probably made common mistakes in your website design Tucson AZ graphic artists could have warned you about.

It's really tempting to add a lot of razzle dazzle to your site and load it up with graphics and how-to videos. What happens is that your site takes forever to load. You have probably abandoned sites because they spun instead of opening after a second or two. Instead of making this mistake, you need to consider speed a design element. It won't do you any good to have a jazzy site if it takes too long to load.

Cluttering your pages with text and pictures will confuse and annoy users. When pages are full of stuff, without any cohesion, the user's eye doesn't know what to do. Users will choose content and usability over flashy graphics every time. The solution to the problem is to keep it simple and not be afraid of white space.

You might have a lot to say about your business or talent, but describing it in large blocks of uninterrupted text will only frustrate the user. People want to find information quickly and easily. They don't want to have to read through a mass of words to find the one thing they came to the site to learn.

This is an easy mistake to correct. You just have to break up the block into smaller ones, add eye catching and informative headlines in a different font or color. Pictures can work to help the user's eye move through the page as well.

As obvious as it may seem, you must tell the user what he or she needs to do. A call to action phrase has to be consistent, concise, and clear. If you bury it in the text, you will lose sales. If your instructions are confusing or complex, the user will abandon the attempt to buy from you.

Everybody has gone to a site at one time or another to find something that looks like it was created on one of the earliest computers on the market. This makes most people suspicious of the business. They believe that the site is probably representative of the product or service being offered. If you've afraid you are guilty of this, you have to change.

You may be under the impression that anyone can create a website. This may be true, but it takes time and talent to come up with an effective one. You have to put yourself in the user's shoes and use your common sense.
